Skule™ Endowment Fund


The Skule™ Endowment Fund (SEF) is a perpetual source of funding sustained by a student levy and is dedicated exclusively to enriching the undergraduate engineering experience at the University of Toronto.

About the Fund

The Skule™ Endowment Fund (SEF) is grown each year through a dedicated student levy. The interest earned is reinvested annually into student projects and initiatives, establishing a perpetual source of funding exclusively for the improvement of the undergraduate engineering experience at the University of Toronto.

The SEF is governed openly and transparently, in partnership with the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. All funding decisions are made collaboratively, with the student body’s interests in mind.

Is this funding appropriate for me?

You may apply to the Skule™ Endowment Fund (SEF) if you are:

Applications to the Skule Endowment Fund must meet the Terms of Reference and the SEF Constitution. Should there be differences between these documents and the contents of this web page, these documents shall prevail.

Generally, the Skule™ Endowment Fund is used for capital improvements to clubs’ and University infrastructure. This includes:

How are applications reviewed?

The SEF Committee decides applications based on, among other things:

After you apply:

  1. Applications are reviewed by the SEF Subcommittee shortly after applications close. The SEF Subcommittee is composed of the student members on the SEF Committee. This meeting is public.
  2. SEF Subcommittee decisions are sent to the full SEF Committee for review. This meeting is not public.
  3. If the funding is approved at the full SEF Committee meeting, read the following section on how to claim your funds.

What happens after my funding is approved?

The Vice-President Finance or the Finance Secretary will send an email to all successful applicants informing that their funding was approved. Successful applicants be asked to provide cheque mailing details.

Once all cheque details are received, successful applicants will receive a cheque from the University of Toronto at their indicated mailing address in 4-8 weeks.

If you receive SEF support, you must comply with all auditing requirements in the audit page. You must also produce a social media post acknowledging SEF support for your project with branding materials in the section below. Failure to do this will mean refusal of any future SEF applications, among other consequences.

Branding

When you receive funding from SEF, you are required to publicly acknowledge SEF support. You must do this by displaying the following image on your promotional material. If you do not do this, you will be refused funding in all future SEF rounds.
